AN AWARD WINNING SCULPTURE

‘migration’ was awarded the “highly commended award”
in the 2006 Helen Lemprierenational sculpture award.

The sculpture comprises 9 individual components, each constructed of glass reinforced concrete with additional steel armature reinforcement.

The construction ensures that the sculpture meets the rigorous safety standards set by Industry and Government agencies.

What is it about?

This sculpture is a site specific installation of 9 individual components, each hollow in construction and cast in a sealed, textured, fibre reinforced composite capable of withstanding all environmental conditions.

As the title “migration" suggests, the sculpture is concerned with movement and the relationship between the individual components and the mass they represent in formation.

Individually, each component is evocative of man made objects, however ‘en masse’, they contravene that logic and begin to appear as natural elements.
